
Fragua, BJ – 9″ Wide Tan Jar with Polychrome Ribbon Pattern and Lid (1990s)

BJ Frauga was known for her classic style of Jemez pottery. This jar has a narrow base, a wide shoulder, and an elongated neck. Carved into the shoulder of the jar is an undulating band. It is painted with natural clay slips to create a cloud and rain pattern. The remainder of the jar is fully polished tan, which is the natural color of the clay. The jar has a lid this is sculpted like a raindrop and fully polished. The jar is signed on the bottom, “B. J. Fragua”. It is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, restoration, or repair.
